Members of the United Methodist Men, Harrisonburg District, Virginia Conference. The UMM is an organized group of men helping others and doing the work of the church in the local community.
Meeting Time
Second Sunday of each month at 7:30am in the new fellowship hall at Sunset Drive UMC.
Each meeting starts with coffee, food and juice along with a short morning devotional and
review of the group's past, present and future activities. After wards there is always time for
fellowship and the opportunity to get reconnected.
Events & Programs
Through out the year the UMM participate in many different types of events, they include
both the District's Spring and Fall Rallies held in April and September, golf tournaments,
projects and work days at Camp Overlook that help with the maintenance and upkeep of the
facilities, and UMM Sunday where once a year the men present the worship service and
provide a guest speaker relevant to the UMM purpose.
Missions & Outreach
Paul Bunyan Day at Camp Overlook, held on the 1st weekend of November is one of the more
popular UMM activities where the men cut and stock pile wood for the camp's use during the
winter. Other mission work involves working with the Habitat for Humanity building local homes
for those in need of housing and participating in a ministry of home repair for disadvantaged
families in the Broadway - Timberville area.
