Kindergarten & 1st Graders- The class meets in the Primary classroom directly across from the Nursery on the main floor. This class offers the youngest of school aged kids a chance to learn about God and the love Jesus has for everyone. Depending on attendance, sometimes this class meets in the Nursery.
2nd & 3rd Graders- This class meets downstairs in the church basement in the newly renovated elementary youth class rooms. The class usually starts off each Sunday as a mixed class with the older elementary aged kids and then separates for a time of bible study, games, arts & crafts and a prepared lesson based on God's word.
4th & 5th Graders- This class also meets downstairs in the church basement in the newly renovated elementary youth class rooms. After the joint meeting with the younger elementary aged kids, the class separates and the older kids enjoy a time of bible study and a prepared lesson on God's word in the comfort of a fuzzy lounge chair. This class also uses a variety of video materials, music, and interactive teaching tools.
Junior High, 6th - 8th Graders- This class meets in the downstairs of the Church Annex House Building located on Sunset Drive directly across from the main church building. The Junior High group have their own room located off of the main lounge and recreation area. Each Sunday they enjoy a time of bible study and a prepared lesson that often deals with the various social issues of being in middle school and how to deal with them in a Christian way. The group also now has the opportunity to attend overnight youth lock-ins, youth retreats and the annual Youth Awakening Trip lead by Faye and William Herndon, the church Youth Directors.
Senior High, 9th - 12th Graders- This class also meets in the downstairs of the Church Annex House Building located beside the main church building. The Senior High group generally meets in the main lounge area and participates in a prepared lesson based on the scriptures that involves group interaction and focuses on issues facing teenagers in High School today. The Senior High group also has the chance to participate in overnight youth lock-ins, Senior High youth retreats, the annual Youth Awakening Trip and community events such as "See you at the pole" and community service projects at Camp Steal Meadows and Camp Overlook.
Forever Young Adult Class- This co-ed class of mixed ages meets downstairs in the church basement in the original fellowship hall and generally has a round table type of forum with a teacher leading the class in biblical history and the teachings of Christ in a relevant manner. This is one of the largest Sunday school classes at Sunset Drive and the large meeting area allows plenty of space for everyone to spread out and participate at a level they feel comfortable with. Whether you like to sit back and listen as you learn more about ancient history, or prefer to engage in discussions as they relate to each week's lesson, one thing is for sure, the Forever Young class is always very interesting and a great opportunity to learn more about God's word.
Faith Class- This co-ed class of mixed ages meets in the conference room on the main floor of the church located just off of the side entrance facing the parking lot and also has a round table type of forum with a teacher leading the class. Weekly lesson material varies on a quarterly basis using the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies booklet or chapter books from well known authors such as Rick Warren and Max Lucado. This class is smaller in size and the comfortable setting of the conference room allows everyone to relax and participate as they like. The wide age range and diversity of the Faith class, which includes visiting college students, single parents, middle age couples and several retired individuals & couples, provides a unique blend of personal views and life experiences that prove to be very helpful in raising families and dealing with many of the everyday struggles we all encounter.
Men's Class- This class for men only meets in one of the two Sunday school rooms located directly off of the narthex by the front entrance of the church facing Turner Avenue and has a round table type forum with a teacher leading the class. The Men's Class is home to many of the older gentlemen in the church and allows them the opportunity to gather to study God's word and enjoy the fellowship found only in such a group. The vast amount of cumulative knowledge and spiritual wisdom offered in this class is truly a reflection of God's power and presence.
Sunshine Women's Class- This class for women only meets in one of the two Sunday school rooms also located directly off of the narthex by the front entrance and features a round table type of forum. The Sunshine Class is home to many of the ladies in the church who's shinning personalities match the class name. Here you will always find a bright and smiling face along with a warm welcome, the weekly lessons focus on God's word and are sure to warm one's heart and fill you with God's Love and amazing grace.
Dorcas Women's Class- This class for women only meets in the Sunday school room located on the main floor of the church across from the news bulletin board in the main hallway. This class is home to many of the older ladies in the church and allows them the opportunity to gather in a holy place and share God's word while providing hope and reassurance to all, much like the Christian disciple named Dorcas noted in the Bible in the book of Acts, Chapter 9, Verse 36, who was always doing good and helping the poor.
Alternative Class- This new class which is lead by Pastor Bob himself is for anyone and everyone interested in exploring many of today's hot topics and social issues. The class generally meets in the basement of the main church building in the Weekday Religious Education room located by the restrooms and offers a wide variety of subject matter to say the least. The schedule for this class varies and it generally depends on the time of the year and the different Bible study classes the Pastor is conducting. The best time to catch this class is during the summer months when things really heat up!
