Youth News:
Junior/Senior High Youth
Happy Holidays everyoneThe Junior/Senior High Youth members have been participating in one activity after another since the beginning of October. We started off with a tailgating get-together at a BHS football game where we gathered for fellowship and we were able to talk to other kids about our youth group. Every Monday night we have been meeting at the Youth Center in the annex for devotions, humorous ice-breakers, light refreshments, and at the end, we open the floor to conversation and prayer requests. We took the Jr./Sr. Youth to the William & Mary VS JMU Football game and we want to give a BIG thanks to Tammy & David Jordan for their donation of tickets and also to Doug Wager for the big help at the tailgating party.
In November, we have kept busy with activities going on every weekend. Our Jr. High youth lock-in was a great success. We had 10 show up and stayed up late into the next morning playing Christians and Romans and inspirational devotions/discussions. Our recent sandwich fundraiser was successful raining over $150 for our youth budget. We would like to thank Ron & Peggi Turner for their help and everyone who participated. Our youth group helped with a soup kitchen at the Little Grill on Thanksgiving morning and the experience really opened our eyes to all that we take for granted.
This month our youth again have a busy schedule. We are scheduled to put up and decorate the church Christmas tree as well as assist in painting the props for the Children’s Christmas play. The Senior Youth lock-in is scheduled for December 6th from 5 p.m. until Sunday, December 7th @ 10:00 a.m. On December 13th both Jr/Sr High Youth will be serving the United Methodist Women’s dinner. The following weekend both youth groups will be visiting Timberview Crossings for Christmas caroling and a youth Christmas party to follow.
We would like to thank any and all persons who have assisted the youth in 2008 and encourage your continued support in 2009 as we try and find new ways to expand our youth group.
Happy Holidays & Blessings,
Lacey, Lauren & Kevin
